In the Easter holidays, parents will be grateful for any activities that will keep the children occupied. It is an ideal opportunity to serve the wider community and an effective launchpad for outreach. Here is some inspiration for Easter activity and tips for the smooth-running of your events.
Easter activities for children and families
Easter comes with some classic games, activities, and treats, which come with the added benefit of familiarity — people are more likely to attend an event when they know what to expect. Here are some ideas:
- Easter egg hunts: The quintessential Easter activity, perfect if you have a garden area, or can use a local park (and have volunteers willing to spend time hiding eggs).
- Egg painting: A chance to unleash some creativity, which gives children a memento to take away with them. Remember that if you are using real eggs, it is wise to thoroughly hard boil them, so that breakages are not too messy, and to do that in plenty of time, so that there is no risk of hot eggs.
- Baking: Easter nests, biscuits, and even hot cross buns are fun and seasonal treats. This is something that does require more instruction, so make sure you have enough volunteers.
Hosting these events also means serving refreshments at scale, for children and parents, which means having a kitchen that can support that can withstand heavy use.
The most durable and hygienic kitchen design uses a Zintec polyester powder-coated mild steel carcass, with a stainless-steel worktop. That will provide wipe-clean surfaces that do not deteriorate in a semi-commercial kitchen environment.
However, another option is a wooden kitchen, like those provided by Woodplan. Wood can still be a robust kitchen material, assuming it is constructed appropriately. For example, instead of screws, a wooden kitchen for a semi-commercial environment should use tongue-and-groove fastenings along all assembled sides, to prevent points of weakness that wear quickly.
Easter as an opportunity for outreach
Whatever your purpose as an organisation, Easter activities are perfect opportunity to raise awareness and even grow your group.
If you are a church group, then these gatherings are an opportunity to share or remind children of the Easter story and its significance. If your group doesn’t have a religious foundation, then you can focus simply on informing families of your regular events and the work you do, and encouraging them to attend or even get involved in running them.To discuss your kitchen with a design expert, and to find out whether a renovation might be what you need to support activities at Easter and throughout the year, call 020 8254 0900, or email [email protected]. One of our friendly team will be able to suggest any changes that your kitchen design or materials, and even help you picture the result in situ with a free 3D visualisation, with absolutely no obligation.
