If you are looking for inspiration for your new kitchen, or want to see how a renovation works, here are three projects from recent years and the kitchens that we designed.
West Street Evangelical Church, Carshalton

West Street Evangelical Church is a vibrant and active community in Carshalton, south London. Throughout the week, its meetings and coffee mornings put a lot of demand on the kitchen, so they needed something durable that could stand up to heavy use, and that was easy to clean effectively.
That is why they opted for a semi-commercial kitchen from Steelplan. A Zintec polyester powder coated mild steel carcass and a stainless steel worktop meant their new kitchen was hygienic by design. With a recessed, seamless-welded sink and a folded rear upstand at all wall abutments the surface is wipe-clean, and features no sealant that can peel and harbour bacteria.
The church chose white (Milk 65) from our range of finishes, to reflect the sense of peace that they want to bring to their congregation and their community.
Hale Community Centre

‘The Bungalow’, as it is affectionately known, is a vital hub for many in the Upper Hale area. It is home to social fixtures, classes, and support groups, and as its community grew, so did the demands on its space and kitchen.
With a need to serve or accommodate more and more users in the kitchen, the team realised that it needed some attention. They had previously used cheap domestic style kitchens, which had meant the hidden and unwelcome cost of repairs and replacements.
This time, they approached Steelplan Kitchens and chose a semi-commercial design, which gave their kitchen the durability it needed, and allowed them to choose a colour that suited the community in a kitchen that would last for decades.
The Indochinese Community Centre, Deptford

For over 40 years the Indochinese Community Centre in south London has been supporting local residents with south east Asian roots. Young and old alike use the centre, which hosts a day nursery, support groups for the elderly, ad hoc events, and functions and parties.
Food is a huge component of the community and cultural experience, but the centre had been making use of the same kitchen since 1998, which was getting very worn and tired.
The team had been stung by a previous poor experience with kitchen renovation, so were very reassured by the professionalism and expertise of Steelplan, especially with the free 3D design and consultation service.
Not only did Steelplan refresh and update the looks of the kitchen they made is durable and hygienic enough to withstand heavy use, and managed to design and expanded kitchen area to allow their food service to grow in line with the expanding community base.
If your church or community centre needs a durable, welcoming kitchen that will serve your community for decades, just ask for our free design and consultation service to see what your new kitchen will look like in situ, and designed to your specifications.
