New College took a view some time ago that given units in student areas were likely to be heavily used and would therefore require high levels of maintenance, the selection of units and worktops that are robust would be a logical and sensible step forward. After some debate it was agreed that Steelplan units would be ideal. They offer easily cleanable and attractive worktop surfaces and the steel construction and fittings are extremely robust. Maintenance required on these units has been very low. Another factor with the kitchens is there's a good colour choice for doors and panels.
