St Nicholas Church, Thames Ditton
The kitchen renovation at St Nicholas Church opened a door to new opportunities for the church. Since their semi-commercial kitchen was installed, the hall has been hired out for a wide range of events, including two wedding receptions and several birthday parties.
The largest event it has supported so far was the Church's own interregnum to welcome their new Vicar to the parish last year: an occasion attended by over 150 people.
"We've even had a chef in full chef's whites - hat and all," says Alexander Dunn, then Church Warden at St Nicholas, "which we'd like to see more of."

St Joseph's, Catholic Parish of Havant and Emsworth
St Joseph’s finally got the kitchen they needed to support hall hire in 2015.
"With the new kitchen, we can now rent the hall for small corporate events, weddings, christenings...we've actually had a lot of children’s parties since the new kitchen was fitted," says Julia Corps, head of St Josephs Hall Committee. "Now that we're advertising the hall space with the kitchen included, we're hope it's going to get a lot more use; and we're confident this new kitchen can handle it!"

Canterbury Baptist Church
As part of a major refurbishment project, Canterbury Baptist Church fitted a kitchen that can cater for 100 people, allowing the church hall to be used for a huge variety of events.
"Within the church, we mostly use the space for lunch clubs and tea and coffee, but it has been really popular as a hired venue for parties and functions," says Richard King, Letting Manager at Canterbury. "We have a full commercial set up – with a dishwasher, warming unit, microwave, six plate cooker, and double sink – and it's all holding up very well. We now advise that anyone using the kitchen must have a Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene certificate. It's not too limiting, as it only requires a short online course, but it gives us confidence that people hiring the space have an understanding of food hygiene and will leave the kitchen clean and tidy."
